May, 2006Edit

Former Pittsburgh city councilman, convicted felon, and current vice chairman of the county committee, Ben Woods, wrote a letter announcing his intention to run as chairman in the June, 2006 election. He lost that election.

Chairwoman Jean Milko has been letting people know via word of mouth that she wants another term, to being in 2006. And a third candidate, Allegheny County Councilman Jim Burn won the election.

So far, Burn has gathered the most support, having secured the backing of most of city and county council members as well as the nods of Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor.

Add in row office support and suburban and city committee votes and Burn appears to have this locked up. Although Woods has been telling anyone who will listen that he has the support of Gov. Ed Rendell, most aren't listening. As of this moment, no one is stepping forward in support of Milko.
