High Gas Prices Blamed to Bush, in part[]

State Sen. Allyson Schwartz, the Democratic candidate in the 13th Congressional District, believes the Bush administration’s ties to energy companies are partly responsible for high gas prices.

In the 2004 election cycle, Republicans have received more than $4 million in campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry. President George W. Bush has received about $1 million.

“Pennsylvanians are paying record prices at the pump, the big oil companies are making record profits, and the Bush administration is doing nothing,” Schwartz said.

According to Schwartz, higher gasoline prices also increase the cost of goods and services related to trucking, farming, manufacturing and production.

The candidate noted that families will be paying more for gas as they drive to Memorial Day weekend destinations.
