- In the Hazelwood part of the city, the lone school is an elementary school, Burgwin. Burgwin is slated to close under Mark Roosevelt's Right-sizing plan.
- Burgwin Elementary school, located in Hazelwood, should NOT be on the list of schools that should be closed. The location of Burgwin, one of the closest schools in the city to the city of Duquesne, makes it an important offering. Burgwin's students would be pushed into other buildings and then there is no capacity to accept students from Duquesne.
