Issues in May,2011 Revitalize the Hilltop Community

As a lifelong resident of Arlington, Jeff knows what it takes to redevelop the Hilltop neighborhoods. It is his priority to ensure that city funds are allocated to Beltzhoover, Allentown, Knoxville and all other communities that have been neglected since he left office. It is time to invest resources and promote an atmosphere for new business to grow, while providing a safe and secure community for its residents. While in office, Jeff began a dialogue in an effort to repave the Warrington Ave. business corridor. If elected, he pledges to reopen that dialogue and see that project through to its completion.

Repair Business/Resident Relations on the South Side

In order for the South Side to continue to flourish, a new coalition must be built of community leaders, local residents, and local business. It is through this coalition that agreements can be made to address quality of life issues facing South Side neighbors. Jeff will be open to all solutions including: increased permit parking for residents, city investment for parking garages, and allocating a portion of drink tax funds to increase police presence. Carson Street is a cultural hub of the city. We can arrive at responsible commerce, but only after repairing the lines of communication between government, residents, and business.

Restore Civility to Council

In the years since Jeff left office, the day-to-day operation of council has ground to a halt. It is impossible to pass meaningful legislation without compromise. It has long been the case that childish fighting and disagreements have left the city of Pittsburgh with a government that doesn’t work. Jeff is prepared to restore the civility that was present while he served District 3. With pension problems, budget gaps, and other economic challenges facing the city, residents deserve a strong working relationship between council and the Mayor.
